SYMTECH closes out 2004 Near Budget
on Capital Machinery

2004 continued to be a challenging year for textile machinery in the U.S. and Canadian markets.  Even so, SYMTECH, because of the diversity of the machinery offered and the markets served, was able to conclude the year close to the anticipated sales.  In addition to the challenge facing the textile industry, there was the declining value of the dollar against the European and Japanese currencies.

Major successes in 2004 were fashion and/or specialty oriented machine lines.  This is an area which SYMTECH has operated in for some years by providing products unique to these needs.  Of particular note, due to the dollar volume, were the continued success with AMSLER effect yarn devices, BENNINGER sizing machines for technical applications, BIANCALANI finishing equipment providing unique hand to fabrics, COLOR SERVICE dispensing equipment for chemical and dye applications, SULTEX weaving machines for Canadian customers, and THIES dye machines for Canada accounts.  Other successes were also enjoyed, although at a smaller scale.

The year 2005 appears to continue to be a challenge for capital machinery in the markets served by SYMTECH.  It is yet to be determined what the effect will be of the elimination of all textile quotas.   The textile customer must see the impact before most will be willing to make major investments.  There are others who are close to their markets and will be willing to make the necessary investment in modern textile machinery.  These will be the industry survivors who will be the customers SYMTECH will continue to serve.
